The 17th DC Saturdays protests to support Iranian people
Iranian-Americans, along with some non Iranians protest across Washington DC every Saturday against the Islamic Republic Of Iran and in solidarity of the people of Iran following more than 5 months of unrest.
At the 17th protest, they marched from Freedom Plaza towards the US Capitol building and the Supreme Court.
Anti government protests in Iran and abroad have started after Mahsa Amini died in morality police custody in Iran after being detained for allegedly not wearing a headscarf (hijab) “properly” in public. Morality police is responsible for enforcing Iran’s strict dress code for women, including the wearing of the headscarf in public.
